Marijuana and Anxiety

Do you want your children to be anxious and depressed?

Marijuana is touted as a panacea.  Good for everything.  “If you are anxious, smoke a joint.”  The logic is beyond me but some believe dope would help with depression.

I’ve listed several websites below with data on how magnesium helps alleviate anxiety.  And depression.  One of the issues with marijuana is that it depletes magnesium in the body.*  So, if you are smoking pot or taking THC in some other manner or fashion, then you are, in the long run going to make it worse.

If you are worried about your child being anxious and the possibility of them doing drugs as a solution, read at least some of the articles referenced below.

The side effects of pot, particularly the long term effects, are kept out of the limelight as there is presently a huge marketing engine heavily pushing the benefits of this drug in the USA and Canada.  The result for the Canadian Government if marijuana gets legalized will be billions of dollars in tax revenue per year.  (Who gives a fuck about the kids.)

Anyone that already does dope on a regular or semi regular basis is not interested in this information.  I’ve talked to many and they really don’t see what is obvious to most people around them.  (The ones that don’t do drugs, anyway.)

From the website Psychology Today:

“…Since magnesium is such an important mineral to the brain as a part of almost every part of the stress response, recovery, and repair, it seems self-evident to study magnesium as how it relates to brain function and common stress-related ailments such as clinical depression….”

What dosage of magnesium should I take?

This from LiveStrong.com

“…According to review published in “Medical Hypotheses” in 2006 and 2010, magnesium deficiency is a major cause of depression…”

And if you want a really technical argument for the use of magnesium for depression and anxiety try NCIB (US National Library of Medicine/National Institutes of Health)

“…where these symptoms severely disrupt and adversely affect the person’s life, sometimes to such an extent that suicide is attempted or results. Antidepressant drugs are not always effective and some have been accused of causing an increased number of suicides particularly in young people. Magnesium deficiency is well known to produce neuropathologies. Only 16% of the magnesium found in whole wheat remains in refined flour, and magnesium has been removed from most drinking water supplies, setting a stage for human magnesium deficiency. Magnesium ions regulate calcium ion flow in neuronal calcium channels, helping to regulate neuronal nitric oxide production. In magnesium deficiency, neuronal requirements for magnesium may not be met, causing neuronal damage which could manifest as depression….”
